¡Detengamos la guerra en Irán antes de que comience!

 

 

Los medios de comunicación están llenos de reportes de la amenaza de un presunto ataque nuclear por Irán y la necesidad de los EEUU de tomar una acción militar. Estos reportes recuerdan las historias de “las armas de destrucción masiva” que recorrieron los medios meses antes de la guerra en Irak.

 

Al conducir la invasión ilegal de Irak, la administración de Bush afirmó que Irak poseía reservas masivas de armas de destrucción masiva y que era capaz de lanzar un ataque – nuclear, químico y biológico – en los EEUU en 45 minutos.

El Presidente Bush dijo que los EEUU tenían que atacar inmediatamente, y no podían “esperar la prueba final que podría venir en la forma de una nube de forma de hongo” Todos sabemos ahora que esta campaña de propaganda era una fabricación completa creada para justificar una guerra de agresión.

Ahora vemos informes que son muy similares, hechos para justificar una acción militar contra el pueblo de Irán. Llevar a Irán al consejo de seguridad de la ONU es un preludio para la acción unilateral. Al igual que en el caso de Irak, ninguna de las quejas hechas por los EEUU han estado sustentadas por un escrutinio imparcial. Irán se ha sometido a las inspecciones más intrusas y humillantes, más allá de lo requerido por el Tratado de la No Proliferación de Armas Nucleares (NPT). Ninguna de las inspecciones ha encontrado evidencia de que Irán esté desarrollando un programa de armas nucleares.

Hay solamente un gobierno que ha utilizado armas nucleares contra poblaciones civiles, y es la misma nación que tiene la reserva más grande de armas de destrucción masiva en el planeta. Lo más peligroso e increíble es que en este mismo momento desarrolla una nueva generación de armas nucleares tácticas que se prepone no simplemente para amenazar, sino para utilizarlas. Ese país es por supuesto los Estados Unidos. ¿No es cierto que una discusión verdadera sobre los peligros de armas nucleares deban incluir las armas almacenadas por el Pentágono y la historia de agresión e intervención de los EEUU?

Irán ha sufrido grandemente a manos de los EEUU. Recordemos que EEUU derrocó al gobierno democráticamente elegido del Dr. M. Mossadegh y regresó al Shah al Trono del Pavo Real “el logro de más orgullo de la CIA”. Por 25 años el Shah gobernó Irán con mano de hierro para ventaja de las corporaciones petroleras de los EEUU, antes de que el pueblo de Irán derrocara su tiranía a un costo terrible en vidas perdidas. Durante los últimos 27 años, las sanciones de los EEUU han impedido el derecho de Irán a desarrollarse, causando así gran sufrimiento al pueblo iraní.

Es esencial que todas las voces opuestas a la devastación de una nueva guerra en el Oriente Medio hablen ahora. Exhortamos un fin inmediato a la campaña de Washington de sanciones, hostilidad, y falsedad contra el pueblo iraní. Nos oponemos a cualquier nueva agresión de EEUU contra Irán. Necesitamos presupuesto para las necesidades humanas, no para la guerra sin fin del imperio.
